What is oculoplastic surgery?
Oculoplastic surgery (sometimes called eyelid surgery or oculofacial surgery) covers medical and cosmetic procedures involving the:
- Upper and lower eyelids
- Tear ducts and drainage system
- Skin and soft tissue around the eyes
- Orbit (the bony eye socket)
People often seek oculoplastic treatment because of vision problems, discomfort, constant watering, infection, changes in appearance or issues linked to ageing, injury or medical conditions.
Conditions we can help with
- Droopy Eyelids (Ptosis) - If your upper eyelid has started to droop, you may notice reduced vision, headaches, or eye strain. Ptosis repair can lift the lid and restore your field of vision
- Excess Eyelid Skin / Eye Bags (Dermatochalasis) - Loose or heavy upper eyelid skin can make eyes look tired and may interfere with vision. Lower eyelid bags can affect confidence. Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) can help.
- Ectropion (Eyelid Turning Outwards) - This can cause dryness, irritation and watering. Surgery helps reposition the eyelid to protect the eye.
- Entropion (Eyelid Turning Inwards) - Often painful, this condition causes eyelashes to rub against the eye. Surgical correction relieves discomfort and prevents corneal damage.
- Watery Eyes & Blocked Tear Ducts (Epiphora) - Constant watering can be uncomfortable and affect day-to-day life. Tear duct surgery can restore normal drainage.
- Eyelid Lumps, Bumps & Lesions - Most eyelid growths are benign, but they should always be checked. We offer removal and reconstruction if required.
- Orbital Conditions & Trauma - Injury, swelling, or changes to the eye socket area can affect both appearance and vision. Our specialist team can diagnose and manage a range of orbital issues.

Why choose Devon Eyes

Our consultants
I grew up in South Devon where I developed a deep love of the countryside and a strong interest in ecology and environmental responsibility.
I later completed my ophthalmology training in South Wales and spent 12 years there before deciding to return to Devon where I now live with my wife Kate, who is an artist and sailing instructor. I am a very keen water sports enthusiast and enjoy kitesurfing, paddleboarding and swimming whenever possible.
These days I am fortunate enough to be able to split my working hours between Devon and Wales and I feel proud to offer cataract surgery to patients living in these beautiful rural locations.
