Private medical insurance

Private medical insurance

Devon Eyes works with many private medical insurers. To use your PMI, you will usually need:

  • A referral letter from your GP or optometrist
  • Pre-authorisation from your insurer
  • Your membership number and insurer details

If your insurer is not one we work with, we are happy to see you as a self-pay patient and can provide a detailed receipt for you to seek reimbursement directly from your insurer.

Self-pay

Self-pay patients

No GP referral is required for self-pay patients. You can book directly.

A free 10-minute discovery call is available to check suitability and answer your questions before you commit to a consultation fee. We believe you should have enough information to make an informed decision before spending any money.

Fees FAQ

Yes. All Devon Eyes surgical packages include the initial consultation, surgery, implant or laser, and all post-operative care. There are no additional charges for follow-up appointments, eye drops, or dressings within the package period.

Devon Eyes works with some insurers but not all — we do not currently have agreements with BUPA, AXA Health, or Exeter. Please contact us before booking to check whether your policy is accepted. If not, self-pay is straightforward and we can provide receipts for you to claim directly from your insurer.

No GP referral is required for self-pay patients. If using insurance, your insurer may require a GP or optometrist referral letter — check your policy before booking. Your optometrist can refer directly to Devon Eyes.

Please contact Devon Eyes to discuss payment options. We aim to make treatment accessible where we can.
